Open Sunday Schedule
Your OPEN SC is BRIAN CANNIFF.
Captain's meeting Sat.: 8:45 a.m.
First round Sat: 9:30 a.m. sharp
Captain's meeting Sun.: 8:30 a.m. for all but
pool winners
Preliminary OPEN seedings are listed and
subject to change. This is not an
invitation for a flood of emails regarding seedings. Seedings were generated to distribute teams according to
power. Where seedings are less clear
(due to lack of cross-play, changing teams strengths (as reported by captains
and others), some teams were swapped to avoid A and B teams in same pool or to
split up the Pittsburgh/New Jersey/State College teams where feasible. Seedings may have been reviewed by some
captains, the CRC, and others but any errors remain Brian's. Note that 6th in pool especially were seeded
to avoid geographic / same-team matches.
First round starts at 9:30 a.m. sharp on
Saturday. Fifth round is capped at 6:00
p.m.
Pools of 5 teams play to 15 (win by 2, 17
hard cap); pools of 6 teams play to 13 (win by 2, 15 hard cap). Sunday teams play to Sunday's schedule. Each team has 2 time outs per half: each
time-out lasts up to two (2) minutes.
DO NOT TAKE MORE TIME ON TIMEOUTS.
VARIATION FROM THE 9th EDITION
RULES: HALF-TIME LASTS UP TO FIVE (5) MINUTES.
We will be playing a "+1 cap" this
weekend. The cap goes into effect AFTER
the current point being played. If
between points, the cap goes on IMMEDIATELY.
The games is then played to a hard cap of X+1 with X equalling the score
of the leading team (If teams are tied, next point wins). Captains cannot waive this - we need to move
games along to fit in all the rounds. ONCE
THE CAP HORN IS BLOWN, EACH TEAM HAS NO TIME OUTS.
The top team in each pool will
advance to a Sunday Pool-Winners Round Robin.
The Pool-Winners Round Robin starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday, with three
games to 17 in accordance with the published schedule. Pool-Winners Round Robin rounds are at 10
a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The 2nd and 3rd place team from
each pool will advance to modified 8-team double elimination play. Since we are not sure how many teams will be
advancing to regionals, we need to use this format. This format requires 5 rounds.
Accordingly, for the teams placing 2nd and 3rd place games will start at
9:00 a.m. sharp and some teams may have as many as 5 games to determine the 6th
place finish. The last round will be
capped at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
In 2000, one team was very late
to the first round. They were assessed
3 points by the TD (Brian). DO NOT BE
late to the Sunday games to go. It’s
important to move them along b/c we need to run as late as 6 p.m. for teams
5-13.
There will be games for the
remaining teams placing 4th, 5th, and 6th in their pools starting at 9 a.m. on
Sunday. We will try to make sure that
these teams each get at least two scheduled games on Sunday. Schedule t/b/a. If you have to drop from the event, let Brian Canniff know
(via email to canniff@canniff.net) or
via phone to 610-581-7091 (preferably before 9pm Sat night).
The next 8 teams will be in
quarters semis/consolation finals over three rounds with two games
scheduled. The remaining teams will be
playing round robin.
We will be playing a 20 yard brick and the 1998 Pull Rule (see http://www.upa.org/pull.txt for details). Summary: On Pull, play disc where it lands. If disc rolls out of endzone, it may be brought to cone (or spot on goalline opposite where it rolled out the back). If disc lands out of bounds, the disc is placed at brick or where the disc left the field at their option. HOLD THE LINE ON THE PULL! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT UNDER THIS RULE.
